The selection of endpoints or outcomes in clinical trials is crucial for study design and interpretation of results. However, meaningful summaries of evidence are only possible if the same outcomes are used in both trials and systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Core outcome sets are a way to prioritize and standardize outcomes in a given clinical area and thus make them comparable.
In close collaboration with Cochrane Skin (https://skin.cochrane.org/) and international partners, (COS) are being developed for clinical research in the areas of incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) (http://cs-cousin.org/consider) and pressure ulcer prevention (http://cs-cousin.org/outputs/). In addition, methods of COS development (http://cs-cousin.org) are being investigated.
